2019 European IT & Software Excellence Awards winners are announced

[London – 15 March 2019] The winners in the European IT & Software Excellence Awards 2019 (www.iteawards.com) – the leading pan-European awards for resellers, ISVs, Solution Providers and Systems Integrators and their vendor and distributor partners – have been revealed at a gala dinner in London on 14 March.

“This was a record year – both in the quality and number of entries,” says John Garratt, Editor of IT Europa and head of the judges’ panel. “It was particularly interesting to see the numbers really tick up in the innovation categories. There is a lot of new thinking being done as to how technology can make a real difference, and it is happening right across Europe.”

ITE Awards 2019

ITE Awards 2019

Entries were received from companies of all types and sizes, and with a geographic spread from Russia, Belarus and Turkey to the Nordics and Ireland. Germany fielded a particularly strong year with a variety of solutions; the Balkans shows their usual strengths, especially in public sector projects.

Now in their eleventh year, the European IT & Software Excellence Awards 2019 attracted more than 500 entries. The awards were given for IT solutions that get to the heart of customer issues, delivering better business, a clearer understanding of data, and more efficient and profitable outcomes.

The judges, with many decades of experience of IT industry involvement between them, have arrived at a list of winners that they believe truly reflects both the strength of Europe’s IT industry and many of the changes in direction occurring within it.

Housing association Curo makes IT Service Management simple with Sunrise Software

Flexible, cost-effective platform enables Curo to achieve 98.4% customer satisfaction

Chessington, Surrey, 13th March 2019Sunrise Software, a leading supplier of IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions, today announced that leading regional housing association Curo is using Sunrise ITSM to support its 550 staff, enabling them to work efficiently and to focus on customers and their needs.

Curo van and employee

Curo van and employee

A housing association and house builder based in Bath, Curo is one of the largest landlords in the South West of England. It provides high quality homes and support services to more than 25,000 customers in over 13,000 homes.

Curo’s service desk team looks after over 1,000 devices, including phones, PCs and Chromebooks. Many employees are mobile, rather than office based, making fast, effective support even more vital. However, Curo felt limited by its existing ITSM software, and chose to replace it in 2014 with Sunrise for its combined ease of use, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

Since Sunrise went live in 2014, over 44,000 tickets have been raised. As the organisation has developed usage is growing, with 10,500 requests submitted in 2018. To extend options for its users, Curo has adopted the Sunrise Self-Service Portal, alongside email, phone and face-to-face channels. The Portal provides a ‘one stop shop’ for both end users and the service desk team. It includes an asset register of all devices assigned to a member of staff, as well as providing an up to date view of any outstanding tickets. Feedback has been consistently high, with a satisfaction rate of 98.4%, showing that users really value the service delivered through Sunrise.

While initially deployed within the IT organisation, Sunrise has since been extended to other departments. It enables employees to log equipment requests with the Facilities Management team, while the HR team is running onboarding through the platform. The asset register functionality within Sunrise also helps Curo to track devices from when they are bought, through their lifecycle to final disposal, providing a full audit trail for regulations such as WEEE.

“Our aim is to keep our users happy, helping them to focus on Curo’s key mission of providing great homes to the people of the South West,” says Phil Bex, Service Desk Manager, Curo. “With Sunrise how we operate the service desk is very much in our hands. It really is configurable, flexible and cost-effective, giving us the ability to make continuous improvements, so support is as seamless for users as possible. With Sunrise we can help Curo grow and ensure colleagues can get on with their jobs, even as the business and its needs change.”

Building on Sunrise’s asset management capabilities, Curo has future plans to log all tools on mobile tradespeople’s vans via the platform. That will ensure that employees know exactly what they have been issued with, and ensures that all necessary regular checks (such as PAT testing for drills and electrical equipment) and safety certification for tools such as ladders are flagged when they are due.

Geoff Rees, Director of Operations and Sales of Sunrise, comments: “As with much of the public sector, housing associations such as Curo are focusing on maximising effectiveness while minimising cost. They want to do more with less, while supporting their users and making their lives easier. By implementing Sunrise, Curo has been able to take control of service management, deploying a powerful, flexible platform that is increasingly being used across the wider organisation, underpinning its mission and objectives.”

IGEL Surpasses $100 Million in Revenue for 2018 Driven by Double-Digit Growth in Software License Sales

IGEL Ships Nearly a Half Million New IGEL OS Units in 2018

Reading, UK. Jan. 24, 2019IGEL, a world leader in software-defined endpoint optimisation and control solutions for the secure enterprise, today announced that it surpassed $100 million in revenue for the year ended December 31, 2018. Contributing to the landmark year was exceptional software sales performance for the company which increased 35%, year-over-year, in the UK. Overall, the company deployed nearly a half million net-new IGEL OS clients during 2018.

Simon Townsend

Simon Townsend

“The groundwork we have laid as an innovative provider of software for simple, smart and secure end user computing (EUC) is truly paying off,” said Simon Townsend, IGEL Chief Marketing Officer for EMEA. “We continued to exceed our revenue and unit delivery goals in 2018. We’re also out-performing and rapidly displacing our larger competitors and attracting the industry’s best partners and people. These milestones underscore that IGEL is the most forward-thinking provider of software-defined endpoint solutions. We anticipate even greater growth acceleration going into 2019.”

IGEL made the pivot, just three years ago, from an organisation that was hardware-centric to be a software-first company by positioning its software-defined EUC solutions as the cornerstone for companies looking to transform their client computing infrastructures. The IGEL OS is a revolutionary operating system which delivers secure, high performance access to virtualised desktops and applications. The IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) simplifies endpoint management, regardless of the scale or diversity of the environment. And, the IGEL Universal Desktop Converter (UDC) enables organisations to repurpose existing hardware by converting nearly any x86 device into an IGEL client. Together, these disruptive EUC software solutions have enabled IGEL to achieve the following milestones for the year ended 2018:

  • Revenue surpassing $100 million
  • Global delivery of nearly a half million net-new IGEL OS endpoint units, including software- and hardware-based clients
  • 35% year-over-year software unit sales growth in the UK
  • Rapid adoption by UK industry sectors such as Healthcare, Public Sector, Finance and Insurance

Marcus Gregory, Head of Sales and Marketing at Intelligere, an IGEL UK partner, said: “IGEL is laser-focused on driving innovation for the End User Computing market in the UK, with a growing portfolio of solutions, support and services that enable customers to radically simplify their desktop management and slash IT support costs. Its software driven approach to desktops and management, regardless of the hardware, is a game-changer for businesses and something we see as a significant growth driver for IGEL’s channel partners in 2019.”

In support of the dramatic growth momentum, the company has expanded its UK and European staff with industry-leading expert appointments in marketing, sales and the channel. New to the IGEL team is Simon Townsend, who joined as IGEL Chief Marketing Officer for EMEA with 20 years’ plus experience in the evolution of endpoint computing technologies, having worked at Ivanti and AppSense. Andrew Gee joined IGEL as VP Sales for Northern Europe from Teradici and brings 20 years’ experience of desktop and VDI solutions. James Dunn joined from VMware to drive Field Marketing for Northern Europe. Tom Illingworth and Alec Connell joined from Dell Wyse to build out the customer facing solutions team and Kevin Markwick from Techdata to drive channel engagement for Northern Europe.

OutSystems Joins Google, Adobe and Slack on G2 Crowd’s 2019 Best Software Companies List

LONDON — 18th January, 2019OutSystems, provider of the number one platform for low-code rapid application development, was named a winner in G2 Crowd’s annual Best Software Awards. OutSystems ranked number four in the “Fastest Growing Products 2019” category. Winners were determined by analysing over 270,000 reviews collected in 2018.

“User feedback drove this award, which makes it extra special,” said Paulo Rosado, CEO and founder of OutSystems. “The overwhelmingly positive reviews show just how much value our technology is providing to our customers — helping businesses create enterprise-grade applications quickly, efficiently, and cost effectively. To be the only pure-play low-code company on the same list with the software industry’s heaviest hitters shows the impact OutSystems is having on the application development market.”

“This is no subjective list by a few people giving their opinions,” CEO Godard Abel explains. “With the highest traffic and engagement, largest selection of products and services, and highest quality data, G2 Crowd is able to harness more than 4 million data points to determine which products and companies are doing the best job of helping businesses reach their potential.”

G2 Crowd’s Best Software Awards provide the definitive ranking of the best software companies and products worldwide. Tech companies on the list are selected with data provided by its software users, and, as a result, have proven their commitment to customers and providing technology that delivers. G2 Crowd compiled the list using data collected from over 270,000 authentic customer reviews written between 1st January and 31st December 2018. Reviews spanned across nearly 60,000 software products, with every single review vetted by an individual person, not a machine, to ensure legitimacy.

Here’s a sampling of some terrific reviews that OutSystems customers submitted to G2 Crowd in 2018.

  • “OutSystems is the present and future of development.”
  • “The primary benefit is super-fast turnaround. It usually takes longer for users to describe to me the functionality they need than it does for me to generate a functioning prototype for them to test out.”
  • “From modernising legacy systems to streamlining inefficient paper-based processes and engaging customers, suppliers and partners, we have solved a great variety of business problems and delivered real value to our customers, with great ROI in just a few months.”

Criteria: Winners were determined based on reviews left at G2Crowd.com between 1st January and 31st December 2018. All scores are calculated using G2’s algorithms, including for Satisfaction and Market Presence, explained in detail here https://www.g2crowd.com/static/g2_grid_scores.

Harrison Memorial Hospital creates an Enterprise patient record with BridgeHead Software

Data from six acquired EHRs consolidated into a single, accessible repository and made part of the longitudinal patient record

Woburn, MA – 18 December 2018 – Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH), a provider of health and care services in Kentucky, recently completed a significant project to consolidate patient data from six acquired primary physician practices by implementing BridgeHead Software’s Independent Clinical Archive (ICA), HealthStore™.

As part of its ambitious plans to expand its facility to a regional medical center, HMH not only made the decision to upgrade its primary MEDITECH EHR to version 6.15, it also acquired six regional physician practices. As part of those acquisitions, HMH also inherited six independent eClinicalWorks EHRs, each containing valuable, current and historic clinical information.

HMH’s goal was to make all of the data from these systems available to clinicians and support staff as part of an enterprise patient record, through its primary Electronic Health Record (EHR), allowing it to standardize on the MEDITECH platform across the organization. The challenge was how to extract the data from the six eClinicalWorks databases and make it available as part of the longitudinal patient record easily accessible to clinicians and support staff through its MEDITECH EHR.

Creating one centralized clinical repository for all patient information
HMH had been a longstanding customer of BridgeHead Software, utilizing its backup and recovery solutions to protect the hospital’s primary healthcare applications. However, after seeing a demonstration at MUSE International 2017 in Dallas, Texas, HMH was convinced that HealthStore would provide the solution it was looking for: namely, a centralized clinical repository to house data that was extracted, migrated and indexed from its inherited EHRs. The project was completed within six months and resulted in a single, enterprise-wide patient record offering a complete 360-degree view of vital patient information, as well as allowing HMH to retire the six inherited eClinicalWorks systems saving significant time, resources and money.

David Asher, Physician Practice Support Manager, at Harrison Memorial Hospital explains: “Having just updated our current MEDITECH system, we were keen to consolidate the patient information from our six inherited eClinicalWorks systems and integrate it into our primary EHR. We have a responsibility to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of care to patients and part of that is giving our physicians access to a complete record containing both current and historic data from across our health system.”

Overcoming conflicting and duplicate patient IDs
The specialists at BridgeHead intelligently extracted, migrated and indexed 1.2 million documents from the existing eClinicalWorks databases in order to create a complete patient record. But, before the data could be fully ingested, BridgeHead worked with HMH to create rules to reconcile and resolve data issues, primarily where there were conflicting and duplicate patient IDs, by utilizing the patient database within HealthStore. Not only did this eliminate the laborious and time-consuming process of manually translating the records into the hospital’s EHR, it guaranteed that the extracted data corresponded with the correct patients.

At the end of the process, 100% of the data was positively reconciled into HealthStore and made easily available ‘in patient context’ through the newly upgraded MEDITECH 6.15 environment.

Martha Sullivan, CIO at Harrison Memorial Hospital continues: “Running duplicate applications across our new regional care center was never an option for us – it’s costly, inefficient, resource intensive – and, had we not faced the issue head on, the situation would have grown more complicated over time. Yet, the consolidation of multiple systems was not something we took on lightly.

“However, after working with BridgeHead to retire the eClinicalWorks applications, we no longer have to worry about where this patient information resides – it’s housed in a central repository out of direct ownership of the originating application. What this means for us, as we continue to expand and potentially acquire other practices, is that we don’t have to be concerned with how we handle inherited systems and their data. HealthStore is now in place to ingest any patient or administrative information we need that will best serve our physicians and patients: from consultation to diagnosis and treatment; inpatient or outpatient services.”

Jim Beagle, President and CEO of BridgeHead Software comments: “Tackling duplicate and legacy systems, and the data silos they create, is a vital part of the digital transformation taking place in healthcare today. By consolidating inherited data, the physicians at HMH are now able to easily access the full patient history, all available through their primary EHR, and reap the benefits of an improved clinical workflow. This ultimately enables the hospital to focus on its mission of providing high-quality health and care services to residents in Harrison County and the wider community.”
